It has been my dream for many years to trace my Brooks-Wehtherby ancestry back to the immigrants and toward that end asking questions of my father, Uncle Isaac, and Aunt Margaret Tabor. I have written countless letters to libraries, court houses and historical societies. I have learned some facts about the Wetherby (Weatherby) family of Ohio and New Jersey but little progress has been made on the Brooks family.
Cousin Claud Redford’s daughter, Ruth Romarioh, has spent many hours of research also since 1969. Cousin Charles Brooks of Lowndes, Missouri has taken a real interest too and gave us some leads.
I live on the old Brooks farm across from the homesite purchased by my grandparents, Martin Louis and Lena Margret Brooks in 1852. Surrounded by memories of bygone days it came into my mind that I should share these memories with many cousins. I never realized how great and widespread the Brooks Family Tree had grown until I started collecting data. Most cousins first, second, and even third have been very cooperative even though most of them have never met me.
Grateful appreciation is extended to those relatives and friends who have shared their family records to the many public and material; to NSDA for addresses of members in DAR; to copyrighted material; and to my husband who has taken me to various places and been patient with my endeavors for these many years.
I haven’t used all material fully because the book was getting too large but I have kept all material on file. If anyone wishes to copy their branch of the Brooks Family Tree from this record they have my permission if they acknowledge the source. Thank you again. I have enjoyed hearing from you and feel that I know you much better.
